Josh Jenner works with local club for World Orienteering Day 2017

World Orienteering Day is an International Orienteering Federation project lead by the Regional and Youth Development Commission.

On the same day, around the world, people host and take part in orienteering events. For the past few years, essex based club, Essex Stragglers have organised an event on this day. This year their event was in Colchester, Essex on the 24th May. All schools in the county were invited to attend the event to celebrate the occasion. The children were coached through some games and activities and finished with a score competition around Castle Park. Throughout the day, school groups came and went, with a total attendance of over 500 children.

The day was a massive success and I would like to congratulate Steve Partridge and Julie Laver for their effort in putting on such a fantastic event.
