Orienteering for The Army

Teaching Orienteering Part 1 Course Crowborough Army Training Camp

In January we were invited to Crowborough Army Training Camp to deliver an orienteering course to a group of instructors. Eight instructors from Surrey Army Cadet Force spent a day learning how to deliver orienteering, with each of them being awarded a British Orienteering Certificate in Teaching Orienteering Part One at the end of the session.

The course focused on how to plan, organise and deliver orienteering training sessions with the view to delivering them to their cadet force. With a combination of theory and practical training, the instructors gained valuable knowledge of orienteering.

With their British Orienteering Certificate in Teaching Orienteering Part 1 they are now qualified to pass on their knowledge to others.

‘A valuable resource for training’

The Surrey ACF Captain said that the course is ‘a valuable resource for training’ and has already put plans in place to repeat the process annually for the new intake of instructors.

Congratulations to all candidates and we wish you every success teaching orienteering!
